General Catalog Numbering System

The L-849(L) REIL and L-859(L) ODAL use a modular catalog numbering format that allows precise configuration of power type, head style, mounting legs, and options. The base format is shown below with all available selections. Selecting the correct combination ensures the unit meets the exact site requirements for intensity, directionality, and installation method.

Type (Power Input)

V = 95-264V, 50-60Hz voltage-powered operation (most common for new installations)
I = 2.8A to 6.6A current-powered operation (for existing series circuit systems)

Head Style

O = Omni-Directional (Styles B, D, F – suitable for ODAL and certain REIL applications requiring 360° coverage)
U = Uni-Directional (Styles A, C, E – provides focused beam for REIL threshold identification)

Number of Legs

1 = 1 Leg (single-leg mount for standard installations)
2 = 2 Legs (dual-leg mount for added stability or specific site requirements)
0 = Wall Mount (available for L-859(L) ODAL only when separate mounting is selected)

Options

A = Current Sense Module (Type V voltage-powered units only – provides true RMS current sensing for intensity control)
B = Baffles (Head U uni-directional only – restricts beam spread for precise aiming in high-density light areas)
S# = Separate Mount (specify quantity – allows flashhead to be mounted remotely from the control enclosure on L-859(L) ODAL)

Example Configurations

84-V-U-2-A = L-849(L) REIL, voltage-powered, uni-directional head, 2-leg mount, with current sense module.
85-I-O-1 = L-859(L) ODAL, current-powered, omni-directional head, 1-leg mount.

All units are supplied with co-mounted flashheads unless the Separate Mount option (S#) is specified. The system supports 50 or 60 Hz operation and meets photometric requirements for MALSR, SSALR, and ALSF-I/II approach lighting systems when properly configured and aimed.
