Overview

The CCR IRMS system may be configured to automatically monitor insulation resistance of the series circuit. Automatic monitoring allows the CCR to periodically check circuit integrity and generate alerts if resistance drops below configured thresholds. This feature supports preventative maintenance and early fault detection.

Purpose of Automatic IRMS

Automatic monitoring is used to detect developing ground faults, identify insulation degradation, alert operators to abnormal leakage conditions, and provide trend data over time. Automatic monitoring reduces reliance on manual testing.

When to Enable Automatic Monitoring

Enable automatic IRMS when continuous monitoring is required, the system includes IRMS capability, or maintenance policy supports automated alerts. Do not enable without understanding the impact of alarms and warnings.

Configuration Procedure

Power the CCR. Press CONFIG. Enter password 9999. Navigate to the IRMS or Megger settings. Enable Automatic Monitoring. Configure resistance warning and alarm thresholds as required. Save the configuration.

Threshold Settings

Automatic IRMS allows configuration of warning threshold and alarm threshold. If measured insulation resistance falls below the warning threshold, a warning may be generated. If measured insulation resistance falls below the alarm threshold, a fault condition may be generated. Threshold values must match system requirements.

After Enabling

After configuration, verify IRMS function is active. Confirm thresholds are correctly set. Monitor the system for initial readings. Record baseline insulation resistance. Trending over time improves maintenance planning.

Troubleshooting Automatic IRMS

If repeated warnings occur, inspect series circuit for moisture. Check recent field work. Compare current reading to historical baseline. Run a manual Megger test to confirm. If nuisance alarms occur, review threshold settings. Confirm environmental conditions are not influencing readings.

Safety Reminder

Automatic IRMS applies test voltage to the series circuit. Ensure maintenance personnel are aware that insulation testing may occur automatically. Do not work on the field circuit while automatic testing is enabled.
