⚠ Service Safety Requirement

The Constant Current Regulator operates at high voltage and high current levels.

Before performing any service, maintenance, or inspection inside the CCR cabinet or on the series circuit, the unit must be properly de-energized and secured.

Failure to follow proper lockout/tagout procedures may result in severe injury, death, or equipment damage.

Step 1 – De-Energize Input Power

1. Turn OFF the CCR using the control interface.

2. Open the upstream circuit breaker or disconnect supplying input power to the CCR.

3. Apply an approved lockout device to the breaker or disconnect.

4. Attach a tag indicating maintenance is in progress.

Step 2 – Verify Absence of Voltage

Before servicing:

• Verify input power is removed.

• Use properly rated test equipment.

• Confirm control power circuits are de-energized.

Do not rely solely on indicator lights or display screens to confirm power removal.

Step 3 – Treat Output as Energized Until Verified Safe

Even after input power is removed:

• Confirm output circuit condition.

• Ensure the series circuit is not energized from any external source.

• Never assume the output is safe without proper verification.

The CCR output can reach high voltage under open-circuit conditions and must always be treated as hazardous.

Step 4 – Do Not Use the S-1 Cutout as Lockout

The S-1 cutout switch:

• Shorts the output when in the OUT position.

• Does NOT remove input power.

• Does NOT serve as a substitute for lockout/tagout.

The S-1 handle position does not eliminate electrical hazards inside the cabinet.

Proper upstream lockout is required.

Step 5 – Service by Qualified Personnel Only

CCR servicing must be performed only by personnel who are:

• Trained in high-voltage airfield lighting systems

• Familiar with series circuit operation

• Authorized to perform lockout/tagout procedures

After Service Is Complete

1. Remove all tools and verify cabinet integrity.

2. Ensure all covers and panels are secured.

3. Remove lockout devices only after confirming safe restoration of service.

4. Restore power in accordance with standard operating procedures.
